Title: What to do - JAMMA Cab Conversion/Monitor Question
Post by: desertsand2ktj on September 12, 2006, 11:31:39 am
I recently acquired a Sammy Atomswave "BIOSHIP PALIDIN" cabinet with TECHNOS Combatribes installed.  Needless to say Combatribes is pretty lame.  I bought a SFII CE JAMMA board off ebay and it got tweaked in shipping - audio and graphics not working 100%.  I'm now considering a conversion.  The cabinet has had the monitor replaced with some Korean A-One monitor.  Does anyone have specs on this (it might help me decide).  It's 19" and I know it's an after-factory by the hack job they did on the back of the cabinet so the neck on the tube would fit.

I  have an old MK40 encoder that I purchased long ago to build a MAME control pannel.  It worked great but the programmability and the fact that they aren't really being sold/supported leads me to believe that this might not be the best place to start for a conversion.

I was then thinking J-PAC/ArcadeVGA.  It might be the way to go..but its a bit pricey.

J-PAC might be a good thing alone...if it's woth keeping the monitor.  I also have an old DELL (sony)  20" RGB monitor tht I could likely fit into the cabinet.

What do you guys think I should do.  JPAC/monitor.  JPAC/ArcadeVGA/Monitor  MK40/Relay/Monitor MK40/DELL.  I also have an oldish ActLabs light gun - but I don't think it'll work with the monitor..

If anyone has the monitor specs for the Korean monitor I have it may help me decide.  The monitor is in good shape.  The color and alignment are good.  I have created a new control pannel for it with the JAMMA harness and added the kick harness for the SFII game (all worked - except for the graphics).

Anyone?

Even information reguarding the monitor might help me make a decision.

-Thanks!

That's an early KORTEK (Korean Telecom) monitor. Bob Roberts has a picture on his monitor id page and Zanen Electronics sells a capkit for it.

Yours is standard resolution and requires an isolation transformer.

I pulled the monitor yesterday

Controller board reads:

A-ONE AM-0629
KOREA

TUBE has a label:

G-A48ACB02X (with made in USA on it) as well as the number
O4RC0072-004

It was wired with an isolation transformer.   It looks like a little mish-mash :-D  It works well and the color's not too bad picure has a little sagging (to the right) in the middle.  Could porbably use a cap-kit.  It's wired up a little funny with some sync wires twisted together.

Wondering if I should use it for a conversion or sell it (if I'm lucky) and get a little cash for it.

While it's similar to the KORTEC it's is missing a couple features in the picture  It's closer to the AM-0316.  Looking for specs and wiring diagram for the board.
