Title: MAMEWAH--- i cant set it up ---newbie help

I need a little help with mamewah

i am running win98
mame  -  windows command line

and mamewah

I have been able to set up my gameslist

I have been only able to play 1 game on the list through mamewah. (1942)
when i try to play all other games mamewah screen goes black for a second then comes back to my game list.

If I try to play the others i.e simpsons through mame32 I have no problems

I have been over and over mamewah ini files but cant solve the problem.

Is it a problem with mamewah or mame?


And help would be appreciated

I managed to hit "screen pause" during the blank screen phase. There is a dos window that says something like:

simpsins.zip matches simsons
nearly matches "some other closely names rom"
and so on and so on naming several other roms i dont have

WTF is this?  and why is it looking for other roms?


hmm maybe reformat and start again

My arcadevga ipac4 and jpac arrived today so the boss tells me so its home to play

It sounds like you are trying to run games which don't exist (probably your roms don't match your Mame version).  I suggest you check your roms with ClrMAMEPro.

And you mentioned Mame32...ensure your commandline mame is the same version as your Mame32 version.

Will check rom version tonight...

i am using mamewah with windows command line version of mame, but i also have mame32 and thats what i was checkng if the roms worked with.... so there may be a wrong rom version issue

Make sure both mame versions are the same.

Problem solved.... moved to MALA
