Title: Mameroom's wall mounted jukebox
Post by: Hizzout on September 07, 2006, 12:26:46 pm
I'm thinking of building the wall mounted jukebox that's on Mameroom's site but I'd like to see exactly what materials are needed first. I'd assume a 15" LCD monitor and a mini-ATX motherboard...something like that. Does anyone know if there is a list of the materials needed before actually buying the plans for the juke?  Yes I will be buying the plans eventually...once I can justify this project to my wife. :)

Thanks

Pretty sure the plans list the building materials needed.  Not necessarily the equipment needed to run the jukebox, but the wood, screws, etc. to build the shell.

I used a regular motherboard.

FWIW, I wasn't happy with the results once I finished.

My next one will make the whole thing swing open, off the back panel, so that I can get in there and look at the guts.

I don't like the buttons they recommend, very hard to push.  The key layout is the suck too, since most people look for calculator layout instead of

I'm going to build a wallmounted this winter.  I won't buy the plans, but plan on using the shape as inspiration.  Jack, I love your idea of having the whole unit swing open, while the back stays on the wall.  I think a piano hinge, with decent length screws ought to hold it. Did you use the miniature momentary pushbuttons and stick numbers on them?  That's what I used on my big juke.  I'm happy with them because I wouldn't really want them much bigger.   They aren't the best quality though, and occasionally double press.

If you make the whole thing swing open then i think the best way would be to hinge it across the top with a piano hinge and then use a pair of gas struts from a car tailgate so it opens upwards with minimal effot and should stay up. Obviously just an idea but i thought i would throw it into the mix...

This reply might be a little late but I also used the Mameroom design for inspriation but DID NOT buy their plans.

Here's the thread that details the build and results...
