Title: OK- seriously need help- Analog+
Post by: eyal8r on September 05, 2006, 04:15:16 pm
Hey guys-
I had everything working fine, using Mame AnalogXP+ 0.82. Machine went into storage- then I yanked it out 6 months later. I made the stupid decision to upgrade my Mame version.  Now- I can't get the thing to recognize my roms at all, and I have no clue how to get it all back working. I have company coming over, and really need this up and running. Can someone help me figure out how I can do this?

Here's the main problem- the last version I know I had running was o.82, which, urebelscum doesn't offer on his site anymore.  I dont know if I CAN upgrade to a newer version and get it all working here pretty quick or not.  Im running dual TBs and spinners.  HEEELLLLP!!!

Oh- downloaded clrmamepro- I have NO CLUE how to use it to figure this stuff out. Can someone help?
Thanks

Easiest thing is to get Mame Analog Plus 0.81.1 or 0.83 from here: http://www.urebelscum.speedhost.com/download.html.  Set it up and you should have 95 % of your games working.

Easiest way to get 100% is PM or E-mail Urebel and see if he can send you 0.82.

ClrMamePro isn't going to do anything really except tell you that 2/3rd's of your roms are now the wrong version.

Other option would be to get a current set of ROMS from . . .

Tiger-
Thanks a ton for helping me out. One problem- I am very lost when it comes to this stuff. Once I download the right file- don't I have to do something with it?  Ie- throw it in my Mame32 directory, then do I have to rename it or something? Or compile it or something? I am also using GameEx as a front end.

Any suggestions is VERY VERY appreciated!
Thanks a ton bud...

You don't have to compile it.  You do want to put in in a folder, run it with the -cc option and edit the .ini file, but it's been ages since I've messed with it, so I don't remember the specific settings.

If you are used to MAME32, there was a MAME32 version of Analog Plus 0.83.2 which might be easier to set up for you.

There also was an 82u3.12 OMG Furries version of NoNAMEMAME which usually included all the Analog Plus goodies and might work with more of your roms.  See https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=91067&package_id=95932

ok- so again- not to be a complete idiot here- but-

I download NoNameMame to a new folder. Then, can I just run it?  Or is there any configuring I have to do?
Any specifics you can give would certainly help me out.
Thanks!

What in particular are you using a+ for?  I Ask because newer versions of mame have a lot of a+'s functionality, including multiple mice support.

Well, 1-2 years ago, it was the only thing that would support dual trackballs, dual spinners in XP.  Is this not the case anymore? What is available NOW that would work?  Would I have to get all new roms for this?
Thanks

I don't know the exact release, but I think it was around .105 that dual mice were added.

You might have to update your roms, yes.

Basically the same as any mame build (well, I'm not sure NoName includes all the default folders.

I would get a copy of mame from about the same version: http://www.mame.net/zips/mame082b.zip

Extract it so it creates all your default folders, delete mame.exe, replace it with the .exe from noname.

Run mame -cc.

Copy your roms, samples and artwork over.

Then you need to edit mame.ini to set up dual trackball support.

As Howard said, around 0.105 or so, dual mouse support was added, but the input system has totally changed, so you don't set them up the way you did before (I haven't gotten that far into it yet).

And as I said earlier, probably 2/3rd's of your current roms will need updating.  ClrMAME can help you with that.

Pretty much everything I'd say is already covered; just posting to say "ditto".
