Hey guys. My construction is going pretty good so far. I have some questions though. On my back panels they are a little short in the width. Some are even cut kind of crooked at some corner areas. No biggie they will still fit. There are some 1/8" maybe smaller gaps inbetween the cabniet sides and these panels.
I have 2X2s and 1X2s. It looks like everyone is using mostly a 1x2 size as there mounting strips. 2X2s would hold fine, but I am wanting to try my 1X2s. If I center the panel and use 1x2s I will be screwing my screws through the panels and into the strips. Only problem is I am going to have to screw pretty for to the side edges of the back panels> You think this would be okay, or should I just use 2X2s as my mounting strips?
Have any of you ever used 2x2s as mounting strips. I would have to use 2 1/2 Inch screws to get them attached to the cabniet sides.
What do you guys think I ought to do? Maybe I will try to use the 1x2s and see what they do for me.
Any input would be appreciated. First though I am going to go ahead and sand and stain these cabniet sides first.

One thing I was thinking about doing is one of the sides is not perfectly level. It is level, but the bubble isn't in the exact middle. I could push this side in a tad bit more then screw the panel into the strip that way. And it will hold the side closer to the middle.
Only problem is I don't want the cabniet side to be under a lot of stress getting pulled in a little bit more.

ok guys allroy1975 has given me some good advice through a PM on this matter. I will be using 2x2s for all of my supports. So you can close this topic off now.
