Hi.
I have to tell you something that I'm really angry about :badmood:
I asked for the shipping cost to Germany for some wiring harness at Ebay.
$40 he told me !!! ???
When I had relaxed from the breakdown I wrote a mail and asked him if he couldn't find a cheaper way for shipping a handful of wires.
Here's his answer "Not when I have to stand in line at the Post Offfice, fill out all the paper work, etc. Sorry"
Bald-faced, isn't it ?
I hope you all understand that I'm a little ..... upset about that answer
I've asked my uncle if I can have the wiring sent to him in Florida and he will send it to me.

Bad thing is, if you pay with PayPal, he can print everything out and all he has to do is go stand in line and drop it off at the desk-takes maybe 30 seconds longer than an in-country package because they have to date stamp the forms for you.
And, actually, for a lower price item even doing it manually isn't that hard-just a green customs form (no need for the huge multi-part one), takes about 2 minutes to fill one out.
I don't get sellers who don't work a little more with thier international customers. I charge $25 shipping for my international stuff, but those are 2 pound packages and I ship global priority. Costs me $18.50 to $20.00 for the postage. The extra $5-6 helps cover my PayPal fees and packaging.

As an occasional eBay seller I get the sellers POV.
I specifically state in my auctions that I sell to US only. That's because I can print everything here, slap it on a box and just drop it off.
When it comes to out of country shipping, I have to get customs forms, then wait at the post office. It may seem like nothing to you guys, but it's a PITA.
So yeah...the guy is charging you big $$$ not to screw you, but to talk you out of bidding on his stuff as he doesn't want the hassle.

I assume it's not a unique item, so who cares? Get it someplace else. Better yet, bid on a European Ebay site.

Peale,
Who's the chick in your avatar? Is she the on that was on Invasion?
-
Michelle Trachtenberg-she was Dawn on Buffy and the twin sister in Eurotrip, among other things.
-
She has nice cones
-
that is like the 50th time someone has asked that question. :laugh2:
-
Yeah, I've made it a bit of a hobby to answer them whenever I see them.
-
wow, I didn't know that Peale had an entourage!

I've shipped out of country quite a few times. It takes me less than five minutes to fill out the paperwork.
Of course, I live out in the countryish, so no lines.

I just shipped to england and it was a real pain. If I knew an easy way I would quote whatever that quote was plus the cost of shipping material. I doubt I'll ship outside the country again.

Just use the PayPal shipping for international stuff-it's like two extra steps compared to a regular shipment.

Do you still have to fill out all that crap at the post office?

I think you can to it online

Indeed. Which reminds me, it's time to change my avatar again.

Nope, you fill everything out on-line, print out the customs forms, shove them in a clear plastic envelope that attaches to the box and take it up to the counter. You need to have the address written on the box (or, like I do, print out an address label using Word) and then they hit it with a postmark stamp and you're done. It takes me like 5 minutes instead of 3.

I have several more choice avatars to change to when the opportunity arises.
