Title: WTB: Modded Sega Saturn or Some one to mod my Saturn
Post by: muell67 on August 30, 2006, 10:08:28 pm
Im looking to buy a modded sega saturn so that I can play import games and backups. If no one has a modded saturn for sale Id be willing to pay some one to mod the saturn I already have. I just got a few japanese shooters given to me and I have no way to play them.

What should one pay for a saturn unmodded or one that is modded?

Why do they cost more on ebay then Dreamcast?

The Saturn is a lot harder to get than the Dreamcast.

I've done a few Saturn mods, it's very very simple.  Swap a ribbon cable and two solder points, one for +5v to the mod PCB and the other usually just connecting two points on the PCB.  Takes 5 minutes.

You have to be sure it's a Model 2 Saturn, though.  The Model 1 is much harder and the modchips are pretty much no longer out there.  I'd say $20-25 is good for a strong unmodded Saturn and $60-75 for a modded one.   The modchip itself comes to $25-30 after shipping.

I'd be willing to do a couple if people mailed them to me.  No charge, just get the chip, mail it to me with the Saturn, along with fundage for return shipping.  I could tell you where to get the chip, too.

I'll back up what others in this thread have said. The Saturn mod chip installation is only a matter of a few minutes. Anyone with even a small amount of electronics ability can install it with no problems.

The pics, if accurate, show two different PCB layouts.  Not sure if they are the same one.

Well, it's both right, sorta.  If you look at the Xinga page, the PCB up top is not exactly the same.  It has a cap in the upper right spot and is green.  Down below in the Xinga page is a blue PCB without that cap and the blue one is the same as the one at Janda.
