Just got my xarcade in and I'm having a little problem with it ( I know I should have built my own but this is my first cab and I wanted something easy to start with). Now it will plug in fine on my older amd 3200 machine and windows recognizes in fine. But when I plug it into my newer main machine it says "USB device not recognized one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned......". I am going through usb, I haven't tried ps2 yet.
Any suggestions?

You might want to unplug it from the PC , shut down and plug it in when the PC it off. It may recognize it when you powere back up. If all else fails call x gaming's tech support line. :)

I had something like this happen to me with a standard joystick once, as a matter of fact, I ordered 2 of the exact same joysticks. One for me, one as a gift. The first one I tried gave me the same error you are describing, the second one didn't. I called the company and the sent me a new one free of charge without having to send the "bad" joystick back. I gave the person the gift (the new one the company sent) and they hooked it up to thier computer and it had the same problem. So out of curiosity I took the originally deemed "bad" joystick over there and it worked on thier computer just fine. And the one the company sent me to replace the "not bad anymore" joystick works fine on my home computer. So now I have an extra joystick. I think the OS (ours was Windows XP Pro SP2) has some kinda glitch in it that is keeping it from recognizing the joysticks everytime, but I'm not Microsoft so I can't tell you for sure.
I know it's frustrating but contact xarcade and see what they say, they may know something we don't.

I shut the computer down and tried plugging it into the usb port and the computer wouldn't even get past the bios spash screen lol. So maybe it will work with ps2. I will have to get a ps2 keyboard to try it first htough.

IIRC you don't need to attach an additional keyboard for X-Arcade or Hotrod. They are essentially a keyboard device.

if you want to program the x-arcade, then you have to have a keyboard attached.
i have found that the x-arcade functions better through ps2 than it does through usb. on usb, if i hold down a stick or button for a long time, after about 5 seconds, it stops workign and i have to let go and hold it again, it doesnt have this problem on ps2

I just got home and tried it with the ps2 connection, and it still won't recognize it. Its kind of disappointing, if anyone else has suggestions I'd appreciate it. I've emailed xarcade but that will probably take a few days.

I was having a similar issue. Not only did I have to use a PS2, I had to use a different PS2 keyboard. My original one was a compaq keyboard and for whatever reason - the x-arcade didn't like it.

Mine did that when I tried to cheap out with a PS/2-USB adapter; You need the official USB adapter (or equivalent) to register a constant keypress such as a joystick direction.

i bought the usb adaptor from xgaming when i purchased my x-arcade. but they just sent me some generic ps2 to usb adaptor....i dont know if they have improved anything now, but when i bought mine a few years ago, thats what they sent.

The adpater I have has both USB and PS2 on the same cable. So do I have to have a ps2 cable plugged into the xarcade when I'm using ps2 as the interface for normal play.
