...has the performance of the boards taken a dive in the last couple of weeks. I don't know if it's the server it lives on or maybe poor saint had to cut the bandwidth for all you looser leachers, but there is definitely a change in the response.

I hadn't noticed but I'm curious to see what anyone else has to say. At the bottom of each page it say show long it took to create the page (in the forums at least) - what's it showing for you on average?
(Example: Your post - Page created in 0.062 seconds with 16 queries.)

Well, most of the time when I have trouble, I don't get quite that far. For instance, I just posted a response to a Video/Monitor thread. After waiting for the post to go for 2 or 3 minutes, I cancelled it, and posted again. Yeah, I added a pic that was kind of big, but it was within the restricted limits. When I saw that it posted, I quickly posted the next pic in my response. After checking out the posts I had just made, the *original* post appeared again, like it had been hung up in "la-la" land or something.
This isn't the only time though. Performance just seems a lot slower for me. I'll try browsing it with Internet Exploder to see if it's something FF related.

We've had DNS problems in our office but BYOAC always comes up more quickly than anything else. I use it as my benchmark for every other site. Its lightning fast.

hit reply.....
Page created in 0.241 seconds with 10 queries.
but took about 30 seconds to load.... stupid dial up.....

I've seen some connectivity issues lately (slow loads and latency), but just attributed it to flapping router somewhere along the path ... when I connect contemporously via a remote locaton, BYOAC is as fast as ever.
Cheers.

I've been getting this tonight (always from the same Google ad server and it never finishes loading):
-
AH! I may have a clue, I will check at home tonight.

Changed the Google ads to be text only instead of text and images for now. People having problems please let me know if that helped?

I've had similar problems, but it only occurs when posting and usually happens when I have a picture in my post (including showing a pic hosted on another site using [img] commands). I'm able to load pages quickly and can post text only messages without problems. It doesn't happen too often and hasn't happened in a few days.

Yeah, this is when I was noticing the hanging. I have to say that the site performance has improved substantially in the last couple of days. I don't know if it had anything to do with the ads or not, but it seems to be back to normal.
Nice job Saint.

Also, keep in mind that sometimes I am doing work on the server. There are certain times when this can have significant slowdowns. I try to keep them to a minimum. If you just wait a minute or so, most times the heavy load will clear up.
If you find this to be pretty common, let me know that too. I've tried hard to get the system as optimized as possible. There isn't a problem with hardware or bandwidth.

Seems to be running great.
