Title: 1 1/4" holes for Joysticks ...
Post by: Czapala on August 28, 2006, 03:38:01 pm
I have read that you only need to drill 1 1/8" holes for (Happ) joysticks. (just like the buttons)

Is there anything wrong with 1 1/4"?

It will be in 3/4" MDF mounted from the bottom with slighty less than 1/4" routed from the bottom.  I was just thinking of more room for the stick.  But seeing as how I have not actually built one of these things yet, I guess I may be over thinking again.

I have 1 1/4" holes.  Works perfectly for me, no rubbing.  And the dust washer completely covers the hole in all directions anyway.

1 1/8 was fine even for my P360 that was mounted slightly off center.  So just as long as the stick you are using doesn't have a really long throw, 1 1/8 will be just fine.

I agree with afhole though, 1 1/4 shouldn't hurt anything since the dust washer covers the whole shebang anyway.
