Title: WG 25k7197 jamma finger board to vga breakout
Post by: aust_txv on August 16, 2006, 08:34:49 pm
Hi All,
To quote another post I am going the "cheap way" and I am there minus a good connection from my PC Matrox G400 to my 25k7197.  I don't want to destroy the jamma connections in this cab.  Can I purchase a jamma finger board and soldier my RGB,G, V/H to the correct spots and plug that into the jamma harness therefore the RGB G V/H on the 7000 chassis ? Other suggestions please ?  Is the J-PAC the way to go ?  I know deep  in my heart he answer is "yes."
As always thank you,
Tom

J-PAC is the best way to hook up a keyboard encoder to your JAMMA harness.

Not sure how your video card will work out for you, though.

Hello,
I have an I-PAC in another cab and it works fine.  I have gone through the minor work of setting up Advmame and AdvMenu and I have lots of hardware (PC) so I have to get this 7197 singing.
I made a test harness to test my 15k  from a vga card to the 7197...she works and is centered.
Controls won't be a problem I plan to use my I -PAC and not run the cp through the JAMMA harness.  The J-PAC is still in the mix though.
Thanks,
Tom

This can be closed.  Here is the soulution I used to connect my VGA cable to my WG 7000 CGA monitor is a jamma finger board.

If you want to connect a jamma ready cab ( it has the jamma harness and the monitor connection in place ) make a db15 male using RGB G H/V sync, on the other end of the cable you use a jamma finger board and pins n,p 12,13,14. I have h/v twisted together.

Two issues that you must be positive about.
1. Can your arcade monitor take 1v RGB ? or does it need 5v ?
Read the manual.  You may need to make a video amp
2. Is your out put from your PC 15kHz  ?
ArcadeVGA, AdvMame, other ...   "blown up Sir !"

Why not go J-PAC if you have a jamma cab ?
I would love to go J-PAC but the $60.00 needs to go towards better joys and stuff.  Plus I already have an I-PAC.  I still may go J-PAC.   If you are just trying the project out and you aren't sure if you want to put more cash into the cab then for $5 you can make a cable DB15Male to Jamma finger board.
