Title: J-Rcade Box

My old site went down, and I figured I'd rehost some of the pics with commentary on googlepages. Alas, I haven't done much more with it due to budgetary concerns, and the IRS apparently wants paid. :) The original rackmount 1u PSU went bad, couple of the capacitors popped. If anyone knows where to get a good one on the cheap, drop me a line.

I haven't even really used the controls much these days, I have everything running through mamewah and a logitech wireless. I can navigate all the menus, esc and alt-f4 from anything, and shut the pc down when I am done without getting up. My next project with this will be to build a box of sorts that will conform to a lap, have happs controls, and be wireless to connect up to this unit. Either that or make a full sit down racer. I doubt I will win the fight with the wife on either of those. :)

but yeah, nice build.  very interesting.  do you have any issues with heat.  you have a pretty nice lil fan to probably exhausted out that warm air, that i saw on your website.  looks pretty handy in case you want to jet over to a friends house, kind of like the lil shuttle computers that people take to lan parties.  nice build

Yeah I am leaning toward the racer as well, just such a freaking money sink. I have a non-working cab sitting on my front porch, I think a more viable idea would be to try and refurbish it as cheaply as possible, and sell for a profit, and then take those funds and apply them to the next project. Wife can't complain too much when it's profit money. :)

Heat has never been an issue, I have had several others ask me about that as well. Apparently when people have made similar stuff they might have went with a smaller fan or something, not sure. That's a 12v beast, and runs very quiet actually. The old 1u PSU I had was much noisier. The only issue is I should have angled the controls a bit differently, so that each person could be confortable at something like 30 degrees or so, rather than the straight on I have. It's still not too bad, and it was designed more for kids use in mind, while dad can be a lazy bastard and play from the couch. :)
