Just wanted some opinions on these, are they a good buy? Can they be hooked up to an I-Pac?

You do know they are x-arcade buttons and joystick..I ALWAYS BUY THESE(http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/YaBBImages/thumbup.gif)
Just so you know..the buttons are too short.Things wont work out if your panel thickness is over 3/4".
You know...if you add plexi on top of a 3/4 wood.
Just a fair warning :).

O.K. thanks for the warning, I had planned on using 1/2 ply with a possible metal underlay for support tho, (if it needs it) seeings as that is what I have lying around.

Why yes, I can!
If you have the bread, of course go for one of the oscar spinners ( oscarcontrols.com ) but if you have your heart set on DIY here is a relavent thread:

You're too kind, thank you very much!
So do you have any good ideas for trackballs? ;D

assuming you want a 3" "real arcade" trackball on the cheap... you could get a refurbished imperial betson direct form imperial betson usually for 29.99 and hack a mouse to it. (or keep a close watch on ebay for one of the ones that already have ps/2 interface) Regardless of which arcade trackball (or where ) you hypothetically get, I highly recommend getting the mounting plate to make things easier (although a few people have gotten creative and mounted their trackball s without mounting plates - the plate makes it soo much easier)
Another option (although the mounting is a little trickier) is to find a crayola trackball sometimes called a KYE Kidsball in a closeout store or in the clearance section somewhere... (they have 3" balls and are a reasonable facisimile of an arcade trackball)
You could work a cheapo PC trackball into your panel - depending on how much you actually like/played trackball type games in the arcade will probably dictate how happy you'll be with that "half measure" ... for me (and others) it's mostly a matter of feel - Golden Tee PC version is just not the same with a regular trackball - need the arcade bulk and "whiz"...
*Shrug*
good luck

I've checked the Imperial Betson website at www.betson.com (http://www.betson.com) and cannot find there any information on those refurbished trackball. Are they available on their website ? Where could those be found ?
UPDATE: Never mind, I found them finally. They are still at $29.99. One small missing information tought: do those trackball need any mounting plate ?
-
The question on the floor is:
"do those trackball need any mounting plate ?"
They don't "need" one if you are sufficiently crafty.... however for the rest of us it makes the most sense to use a mounting plate... as that's how it's done in the arcades (unless you have a metal control panel that is)
The imperial betson (mounting hole wise) is the same as the happs trackball ... In fact I use a happs mounting plate with my imperial betson refurb...

Thanks for your reply rampy. One last quick question, since I'm nowhere near to being crafty: is the refurbished Betson considered as being a "high ball" trackball ? I'm asking that because there are two kind of mounting plates on Happ's website: one for 3" high ball and the other for 3" (i guess standard). Which of those 2 did you use ?
Thanks again.

Get the standard 3" mounting plate. It fits the betson 3", happs 3" (original), happs 3" high lip, and wico 3".
Only the happs 3" high ball needs the non-standard happs 3" high ball plate.

Back to spinners:
This is not really relevant to the original post since he seems to be on a budget, but I'm really curious about the Slikstik Tornado spinners. I've read one review of them and it was admittedly glowing, but has anyone here used these much? They look awesome and have a considerably larger diameter than the Oscars, but are they worth $90? That's a hefty price tag! On the other hand I plan to have this hulking behemoth around for a very long time so it doesn't make sense to skimp on parts. If it'll make me happier I'm fine going with the Tornado, but if all things are basically equal I'll save $50 and pick up an Oscar.
Any insights?

If your considering the Tornado consider Oscars Pro spinner. Its more arcade authentic than the Tornado. I haven't used either. The only complaint I've heard of the Tornado is that it spins to well and because of that it doesn't have the arcade feel. Arcade spinners had a little resistance in them. Either way you can't go wrong with those 3 spinners.
