I'm in Chicago for the week, and would like to visit some of the arcade related historical sites or any good arcade supply shops...
Please post a list of locations that would be worth visiting...
-
Well, Happs is in the suburbs of Chi-town. Outside of that, I could point you at a few of the bigger arcades (Dave & Busters, Gameworks type places), but don't know of any historical/supply shops in the area. If you find some, please share them, would be cool to go visit.

Yeah, I'm in Naperville (western suburbs) and I have not heard of anything. Would like to know if there are places like that though.

I'm in Carol Stream, and the only big places I know of are already mentioned....
However, there is a place of interest at Bloomindale Rd & Lake St that may sell arcade parts in Bloomingdale...
Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

No clue, I don't get much further North than Fry's at 355 & 88. What's up there?
-
Next time I'm in the area I'll get the name of the place.
-
Yeah, I know the place you are talking about in Bloomingdale, right next to FIM.
It is a pretty good place and I believe they do rentals. Game prices were LOW compared to what I would expect from a traditional rec store.
I would love to put together a "Arcade tour of Chicagoland" maybe rent a bus and go to Happ, Betson, IT, Play Mechanix, Raw Thrills, Stern , Midway, Namco etc.
I wonder how much something like that would cost and could we get 20 people together to do that?

There's a storefront on Western Ave (around Lawrence/Montrose) that seems to house arcade machines (by house I mean like warehouse). So they may be a supply store of some sort. The storefront is adorned with Marvel comic book characters (Hulk, Spiderman, etc). Sorry I don't have more info, but I pass it all the time and always tell myself to go in there.
Also on Western and Addison is a small arcade called "Funland" or something. It's right across from Waveland Bowl.

The old factory where Williams used to make their pins is now the offices of WMS Gaming, where they make slots. It's practically across the street from Midway.

Check-out Haunted Trails on 79th & Harlem or Enchanted Castle in Lombard.
