Title: Where is a good place to buy a modded ps2? I only want to play import games
Post by: muell67 on August 12, 2006, 06:24:11 pm
Well Im just getting back into 2d fighters and it seems like most of the games I want to play came out for the japanese ps2. So I want to get a modded system so I can play import games. If there is a easier way to play imports Id rather do that but I dont want to have to do a disk swap. So Im just looking for a good reliable place to buy a modded ps2, Preferably the new smaller ones. Any one have any reviews of retailers?

I don't have a good source, but I'm just wondering what import fighters you're interested in.  Hdloader is another alternative to modding you may want to consider.  Here's the compatibility list: http://list.ps2hd.com/

why dont you just buy an import ps2 to play inport games saves any chipping or messing around ??
if all you are going to play is import games this sounds like the easiest option to me ..................

You can soft mod a PS2 with a memory card exploit.  All you need is a hard drive and a swapmagic disk or gameshark to set it up. This tutorial mentions a free hdloader program:

My PS2 has the HDLoader program, which I access at startup with the memory card hack.  Nothing beats it for the PS2.

BTW, I might be selling it soon.  PM if anyone is interested. . .

well I just bought a new white slimline japanese console and Im pretty happy with it Im now able to play all my jp psone games and Ive ordered a couple ps2 games for it. The only problem I have now is Im starting to wish I could play us games as well. I have my us ps2 downstairs and I have my jp one upstairs in my bedroom. The one in the bedroom is already getting more playtime so Id like to be able to play us game on it also. (I know I should have just bought a modded ps2) I want to know if the swap disks work with the newer slimline ps2's? and is there a way to rig the door so the ps2 thinks its closed?
