did they really make cabinets like this? The monitor needs to be mounted to the ...bezel? the glass/wood part..and then be lowered straight down into the cabinet?
attached pics will hopefully make sense. Seems like most cocktails I've seen have the monitor on hinges.

yup, quite a few cocktails were like that.

Ahh, the cocktail monitor mount... the bane of my arcade project. I can't believe that they used to mount to the bezel... if that's the case, my worry level just went down by a factor of 10. I bolted mine to the hinged door and tabletop - 4 bolts in each. I recommend you do the same, if possible.

Mine is mounted down in the cab itself. (cocktail)
When you lift the top the monitor stays down inside.

I didn't even think about that.
Mine is a Taito version.
