Hello all. I am new to this and doing some research before I go crazy buying parts. Ordered Saints book and can't wait to get it. Anyway, from what I understand you need an Ipac to get a coin door to work when you insert quarters. I have been thinking about getting a SlikStik to save time from having to build my own controls. Is it compatable to have both a SlikStik and Ipac installed? If not, I may just build my own controls. I am planning on building a 4 player system. Thanks.

Any Encoder will work with a normal coin doir, ie I-PAC, KeyWiz, GPWIZ, A-PAC, J-PAC, OptiWiz, OptiPAC, Ultimarc 360, etc, etc.
As the SlikStik Website mentions, The SlikStik control Panel uses an I-PAC.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking that the slikstik used usb.

Where did you order the book from? I am just curious, seeing as I would be very interested in reading it.

i hacked a cheap pc gamepad for my coin door, you can use just about anything

The Ipac uses USB. USB is just an interface, it is the encoder that actually "does the work"
As mentioned, any encoder can be used for a coin door... hacked gamepad, Ipac, Keywiz... whatever. All it is doing is registering a keypress once a coin is inserted, so its not a big deal on exactly *how* the keypress is "made"
