Im using gamelauncher as my FE and winxp as my OS. While in the list mode, mp3s play in the background which is very nice. However, I would like to know if there is a way to get mp3s to also play during game play...
For example, when I play pacman, I rather listen to MP3s then the pacman music. Then possibly, a way to turn off the mp3s and switch back to the game sounds, for example when Im playing TMNT....
If anyone has any advice or suggestions, Id appreciate it!

I'm pretty sure you asked this once before and the answer is still no. :)
You could run wmp in the background but then you wouldn't have any control over the songs and it would eat up prescious resources, plus you couldn't halt it for specific games. Gamelauncher isn't programmed to do this and therefore it can't be done. Is this starting to sink in now?

Thanks Howard ;)
I did post the same question here:
http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=5422;start=0 (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=5422;start=0) but didnt get an answer about it... If i did post it somewhere else and someone answered it-- I apologize. If you find the post for me, I'll buy you lunch :)
Also, is it me, or does the search feature for this forum have a lot of room for improvement?

Well, it is posible to do what you want, BUT it'd have to be supported in the FE. I don't know of a FE that does that.

There's a good reason for that to. Mp3 sound playback takes a lot of extra processes as does opening an extra sound channel and mixing it to the curretn sound takes up extra memory. In other words it makes things slower which even on the simplest mame game is a bad thing. Also channel mixing isn't supported on old sound cards and thus it would crash.
Btw there is one fe that supports sound in the background..... 3darcade. It's not on a per-game basis though, that's just crazy talk.

yeah I give the option to let the background mp3 play on to keep the atmosphere of the 3darcade while playing a game and it works ok for the classic games I mostly play...but I would not try it with stunrunner etc ;D
I also enabled i in the upcoming release for playlists because I keep getting asked why only for the background mp3 but personally I agree with Howard think about it two mp3 streams in the background of mame yuck ;-) )
