Hi,
I was wondering if anyone else was trying to reach Scott at arcadedepot.com lately. I'm trying to buy a cabinet kit from him because I think his are the nicest being solid oak and all...and I've heard great things about how he can do customization requests.
I wrote him one email which he took a couple weeks to respond to...and then another one which he took another couple of weeks to repsond to. My lastest email has gone unanswered for three weeks now.
At the time of his first reply, he told me he didn't recieve my email (I had resent the same email a week later and that's the one he responded to). Seemed fair enough but then it took another two weeks for him to respond to my reply. When he replied, he mentioned he's having a family emergency and thats why it took so long. Well, I haven't hard from him since and i'm still trying to finalize the deal.
Is anyone else having a hard time reaching Scott or getting their orders from arcadededpot.com?

If that's the kind of service you get when trying to make a sale, I wouldn't buy from him.

I haven't bought anything from them in a couple of years, but at the time they were great. They replied to my stupid questions very fast and cut my kits really quickly.
I'd put it down to his current 'family emergency'.

I'll second this. I bought a kit from Scott back in April of 2005 and he was very responsive to emails and me generally being a pain about customizing the CPs. The kit shipped quick too. If he says he is having family problems I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

Thanks for the replies.
RayB: Normally I would have given up on him by now, but I've heard great things in this forum about Scott's work and knowledge he is willing to share about how to customize certain parts so I'm being a bit more patient.
Joymonkey & javeryh: Yeah I did throw a bunch of questions at him also regarding custom cutting and parts. His responses that I have gotten were very thourough and answered directly. That only makes me that much more bummed out that I can't talk to him more at a time when I'm ready to finally start putting my cab together.
I'm starting to look at other options now. As much as I'd like to build my own , my small studio apartment just doesn't cut it for woodworking projects (no pun intended)....so I'm still looking for a kit. Most of what I see online looks poorly constructed, made of pressboard...etc. Can anyone recommend a good solid wood cocktail cabinet kit? I saw this one at arcadeshop.com that looked pretty good but it's hard to tell:
Fully Assembled Cockatil Galaga/Ms Pac/Midway 19" style cabinet

I was relieved to see a phone number on their site but it seems to go straight to voicemail right now.Can anyone comment on the quality of these cabinets? Are they solid wood? Do they customize cutting for control panels?

I've called ArcadeShop in the past and talked to a live person, so maybe they were just busy when you called. I don't have any expereince with their kits though, I'd guess that they're particleboard with a woodgrain melamine laminate.

Steve is a good guy-- I have gotten nothing but excellent service and products from him in the past and will continue to order from him as my budget allows ... I have a long list of stuff awaitng funding.
I have never purchased any of his cabinet kits, so can't comment on them.
Cheers.

I built my ArcadeDepot mame cocktail about 6 months ago, and its my best mame machine yet. I even sold my Cherry cab D9200 when this one was done because I liked this one so much more. The oak cabinet looks very presentable in a living room etc...and plays very well. Scott was very very cool and responsive when he was working with me. He must be having some personal issues as it doesn't sound normal for him to be blowing you off as you described. I would have patience and maybe even place the order first, and then talk to him about specific details like control panel layouts etc....Good luck. I have pics if you want to see the finished product. Email me: bdaley1@columbus.rr.com
