Title: Need some answers on how heat, cold, and humidity can affect cabinets
Post by: Anakin on August 07, 2006, 10:44:34 pm
I want to build a few cabinets but if i do, they will have to stay in the garage.  I plan to make a mini room in my garage to place these bad boys but I dont know how the weather will affect the equipment and cabinet.  I live in San Antonio, Tx so it gets pretty hot and humid in the summer and not to cold in the winter with the exception of a few days out of the year.  Does anyone leave their machines in a garage or a non climate controlled room?  Can the heat and humidity cause problems with a tv/monitor?  Any info would be appreciated.

Up until the last five years I'd been living in Houston, so I know the weather your talking about. I'm not sure how much punishment the cab would take from the weather, but you've got to be pretty damn devoted to your games to play in 90f heat and 89% humidity.

Come to think of it the CPU might not like the heat all that much.

The CPU isn't that big of a deal, assuming it's not running or collecting moisture. As long as you can keep the moisture away from the cab itself, the heat and cold aren't a big factor.
