Title: Mame32 and 2nd Joystick
Post by: shafor on August 03, 2006, 10:01:47 am
I have been reading the site for about 2 years however I just stared my first project.  I have built my cabinet, control panel, etc. and everything is working however I have a question on using the 2nd joystick on the control panel for the 2nd player in games such as Ms Pac Man.  Currently if I play Ms Pac the second player is defaulted to the 1st joystick.  Any suggestions would be great.  If it is needed I am running a AMD 2800+, 2gb RAM and 200GB running Windows XP Pro and Mame32

Thanks - dave

And since the orignal game did this, mame does it too.

There are two ways around it:
a) you map both joysticks to player 1
b) the original game had a cocktail mode

The problem with a) is both sticks will work all the time.  The problem with b) is the screen will be upsidedown for player 2 (unless the driver does not support cocktail flipping for that game).

Thanks so much - It looks like it will be just one stick for version one of the cabinet.  My project is going "LIVE" tomorow night durng our local relay for life.  Our campsite theme is an 80's arcade.  If anyone is interested I will post pictures of the cabinet, etc.
