I recently upgraded to MAME 1.07, and after getting the gameslist to work, I now have the problem that the controllers won't work. I have files for a bunch of games in the cfg folder, but none they don't seem to work. Also, I had to rename default.cfg just to get MAME to start. I searched the forums and found that at some point there was a change made, but I couldn't find anything concrete. Any ideas?
On a side note, what exactly is the real benefit to this new video mode? I have a 850mhz p3, 256mb ram, and a radeon 7000 32mb. I notice it looks a bit sharper, but I've also got a noticeable performance hit. Shouldn't it increase performance?

Delete the contents of your \cfg folder - many changes have occurred since v0.99.

I'm not really sure of the benefits, but no it shouldn't neccessarily improve performance.

Well, yes, to get it to run. But am I to assume that you all redid all your controls after whichever update it was that changed them? My controls are in xml, how much could it have changed?

I guess I just assumed that if the CPU was no longer being tolled with video, that the performance would at least stay the same. anyway, MAMEwah is the greatest, thanks again.

There were a few format changes. The most noticable one is that if defalut values are used, it's not noted in the xml file. There were other xml format changes though that, IIRC, Aaron said broke prior cfg & ctrlr files. I'd have to look up when it happened.

It decreased performance for most games. The biggest changes are if artwork and bezels is used it's faster, and multiple screens with different resolutions can be used properly.
