Title: Anything similar to the DOA stick?
Post by: stephenp1983 on July 27, 2006, 07:28:43 pm
I want something like the doa stick that will work on a pc.  I like the design and everything and the fact that its small so I could carry it around easily with a laptop to play mame games.  I'm not a big fan of doa though so I was curious if anything else out there was liek this.

Do you need it to work on the 360 as well?

If so, then aside from making your own, the DOA 4 stick is pretty much it (it can be used on PC without any adapters).

If not, then with adapters, you can use PS2 or Xbox arcade sticks, or many other various console arcade sticks.

[EDIT]

There was another thread recently about the DOA 4 stick, and someone replied with a link to some stick that works on multiple systems with cartridges or something. I didn't really look into what the product was, but I'll see if I can find the link, as it would be another option for keeping 360 compatibility.

[EDIT 3]

I just checked the site out, and they are definitely quite a step up in pricing.

YEah I saw that product.  I would only be using it for pc so paying 200 something for is out of the question.  I want something like the street fighter one I guess.  I'd rather just have a straight usb without having to get a convertor.

If you are at all comfortable with splicing wires, you could simply stick a standard USB connector onto an Xbox stick. That is all that the Xbox adapters are anyway, since the Xbox is actually USB. It just has a non standard plug.

I might just break down and buy the doa one if theres not much choice out there.  I see those cheap 10 dollar ones on ebay all the time but they have to be crap.

You could get the $10 ebay special and modify it.  Just get some basic measurements and check to make sure the parts you want will fit.

The guys on the shoryuken site have some good examples of sticks in the tech talk area:

-edit-

I just realized you were the one that posted about going with the DOA stick:
