Title: CP Layout Critique
Post by: Banacek on July 26, 2006, 09:43:38 pm
Hey, here's a pic of my CP layout. I was hoping to get some feedback from you guys before I started drilling. I want to play Golden Tee, so I don't want anything really above the trackball. Also, there's going to be two buttons on the sides as pinball flipper buttons, and one extra one on the right side as an escape/reset button. Do you see any problems? Thanks!

Is there a reason your p1 and p2 controls are not level with each other?

He probably noticed that I'm sure not on purpose Do yourself a favor and make your life easy go to a print shop get a full size template printed out like 10 bucks maybe at the most so you don't have to cut and tape and line sheets of paper up. lay it down then make lil pilot holes into the wood where the buttons go. don't try to drill all the way through the paper will get all smashed to ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---. Remove the paper drill the rest of the hole perfect everytime.  ;D

Wow, thanks for pointing that out! I measured from the wrong line! That would of been bad...

I also noticed you didn't have any center lines for the button holes. May want to add them before you drill.

What button(s) are you using for esc?

Yeah, is there a template that has those? I like the 7 button spacing template on the Project Arcade CD, but it doesn't have center lines.

I'm going to have one button on the left side specifically for that. You just can't see it in the pic :)

I used a visio printout another guy gave me for a desktop CP, and it had center lines. There are some templates here on byoac you could probaby use under the  layout and design section.

I saw visio templates out there, but since I don't have visio, I can't really use them. Also, I don't see a 7 button layout template in the Layout & Design section. I'm sure there's one around here, I just have to find it.

You can always print out those buttons on here and use them to mark your center points on your existing template. You know, poke a hole or press real had with a pencil.

Also, you can get a trial copy of visio online. That is what I did to print out mine.
