Total newbie question here, but I'm trying to find a place to buy the security screws I see everyone using to mount their joysticks. I will be ordering some stuff from Happ Controlls, do they sell them there? Do they come with a joystick?

Carriage bolts right?
To mount the joystick?
Bob Roberts has em..the black once..they looks REALLY nice..You should order some extra too in case you wanna build more panels later.. ;D

Yes, bolts not screws :P
Are they fairly specific or could I find them at a hardware store? Paying a lot on shipping for a dozen bolts wouldn't be my first choice.

Ace hardware has the size 3/16" that's best for mounting joysticks... (using the appropriate length of course)
Home depot has the 1/4" ones that are a wee bit too thick IMHO

another funny thing about ace hardware..i tried buying only like 8 bolts and nut onces and they charged me $2 BUT 100 nut and bolts cost $6.89.
WTF :D
If same goes around you then just get 100(make many joysticks for everyone you know.. :P)

Hardware store will probably have them in bright chrome, but not black. If you want black, you're best with either Happ or Bob Roberts. (And no, they don't come with the joysticks!!!)

I've seen some folks use a piece of hardware that you can flush mount under a piece of lexan or plexi They have 3-4 spikes and you basically counter sink an 1/16" or 1/8" and them hammer them into place. They have a threaded end that you then screw into from the bottom of the CP.
Somthing like this.
______
` | | ` <--- Spikes

| | <--- Threaded shaft

Anyone know what they are called or where to find them??

They are called T-nuts. I used them on my panel to give a cleaner look without screw heads showing. Picked them up at the local hardware store.

I buy mine at Home Depot. Just make sure all the bolts are the same. Some people are very inconsiderate and just mix up the bolts, makes me really angry >:( . The first time I bought the bolts I had some odd ones and had to drill the holes on my arcade stick to be bigger. Really sucked. Thanx.

Bob Roberts is the only place on or offline that I was able to find the black carriage bolts I was looking for. Home Depot definately doesn't have them.

i'd buy from bobroberts .. but let me offer you an offline solution...
Buy the hardware store carriage bolts (that are silver-ish)... and use barbque paint on the heads to make them black. (the kind you paint.. let sit for 30 minutes and then bake in the oven for an hour or two to make the paint super hard)
