Title: Sanding Discs in the 400 grit!
Post by: rdowdy95 on July 21, 2006, 05:05:31 pm
Anyone know where to get very fine aka 400 grit sanding discs.  All I have found are the 200 kind that are like fine sanding discs.

I think that vey fine sanding discs (i'm guessing for an orbital sander) are harder to find because generally extremely fine sanding is done by hand or with a specialty sander, but I would check around automobile bodywork sources for very fine sanding stuff

I picked up a cheap 1/4 sheet sander at Aldi for $5 and some 400 grit paper. It's not as convenient as the orbital sander, but it's a hell of alot better than doing it by hand.

Holy crap-isn't 1500 grit known as "masking tape"?

Auto body supply stores are a good bet. 5" disks might be harder to find though... AB paper usually runs 6" & 8".

Couldn't he just get the larger size and cut it down?

A town in north texas.  I can get either the adhesive or the hook kind.  I bought some 250 fine grit stuff.  I am looking for some very fine 400 grit though.  I will check the website called grizzly.
