Is there a file, in any usable format, that can tell me the following for each ROM:
-number of simultaneous players
-number of total players
-number of buttons/joysticks/other controls needed
ect
I've been creating a spreadsheet with this info from the Top 100 on KLOV, but was thinking what I can't be the first person to want this.
The reason I do want this is so I can easily figure out how many buttons I need for a cab which will only have a few dozen ROMS, without looking it up each of them in KLOV. Also, I'd like to use LED-Wiz, or something like it, with translucent buttons on my next 4 player cab, and I'd like only the necessary buttons lit up when the game starts.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried MAWS (http://www.mameworld.net/maws/)?

controls.dat (http://fe.donkeyfly.com/)

No. This data hasn't been collected for every single rom out there, but controls.dat is the closest you'll get.

The control.dat is good. That will help.
Howard, I believe that PowerMame can use this info to control an LED-Wiz and light up the appropriate buttons. Is that correct?

Not sure. It was my understanding that pm just used mame's internal data, I could be wrong.
