Title: Joystick ID
Post by: brophog on July 14, 2006, 09:18:46 pm
Unfortunately I have no pictures, so I'll have to be as descriptive as possible. I went to a movie theatre the other night that I've never been to, and being one of those people that has to play with joysticks.........well, I just had to test out the arcade machines in the lobby.

I saw a Namco Collections candy cab that I didn't recognize. The machine sat very low and was uncomfortable for me to play. However, I loved the joystick in it. The stick was all yellow, both shaft and ball. The motion was square, but not obnoxiously so. It had good 8-way and 4-way movement. Soft throw, but very precise.

Any help would be appreciative.

If you can't find the answer here you might want to try the Namco Arcade contact page:

I have a feeling that it may have been a Seimitsu LS-40.

You can find a picture of the red version at: http://akihabarashop.com/products.html (http://akihabarashop.com/products.html)
Seimetsu's site: http://www.seimitsu.co.jp/joystick/index.htm (http://www.seimitsu.co.jp/joystick/index.htm)

I guess it really could have been any ball top with a shaft cover, though.

That's kinda my feeling too, although, I've never used a seimutsu to know for sure. It didn't have the sanwa feel to it though and was unlike any american stick I've ever used. To best describe it, it feels like a t-stick but with a nice soft, medium-long throw to it.
