Title: Transporting multiple cabinets on a pickup truck...
Post by: ArtMAME on July 13, 2006, 10:28:54 pm
The next SuperAuctions is practically around the corner  and I am looking to score either a really nice working classic  ;D ...or...several junkers to restore...

My question is: Has anybody transported 2, 3, or 4 cabs in the bed of a pickup truck safely and succesfully??? and if so, are there any tips or procedures that may be helpful???

See attached picture.  This is from http://www.carnine.net/arcade/

Just wondering if anybody has tried it and how safe it would be.

I see from the picture that these cabs are all empty, so that may be doable...

I would think that since most cabs are somewhat top-heavy if they still got the monitors in them, they may not be all that stable in the bed of the pickup truck while gently making a turn, even if they are strapped to each other and to the side of the truck bed.  Or maybe if they are all strapped together they would counter-balance each other on the turns?

How about 2 cabs standing upright in the center of the bed... would they be stable if strapped securely to the sides of the truck bed using those ratchet-type straps?

Any helpful tips would be apreciated.

A guy I know here put 6 in the bed of his truck a couple of auctions ago.

Must have a good set of straps (and points to secure those straps) and you might want to have a tarp on hand in case of rain, sleet, snow or pestilence.

Cheers.

I can fit 2 no problem in my small GMC Sonoma.  I use the ratchet type tiedowns.  In the bed of the truck are 4 hooks (one in each corner) that I can latch to.  I strapped the 2 games together and then straped them to the truck.  They didnt budge.  I would not try putting games on the tailgate as it may not support the weight.  Small pickups are nice in that it limits the games to 2, my next car will be a 10' box truck.  LOL
