I installed the spinner in my control panel and plugged it into the USB port on my computer. When I launch Arkanoid (for example) the spinner doesn't do anything. Is there any additional configuration I have to do maybe within MAME or each individual game? Arkanoid works using left and right on my joystick though (wired up using an iPac).
Any ideas?

did you enable the mouse in your mame.ini file?

Nope. I'll give that a shot when I get home tonight. Also, will the games get confused if the spinner accidentally gets hit while I'm playing a game of Pac-man or something? The spinner and P1 joystick are pretty close:

What you want to do, when in Mame hit Tab to get the Mame menu. In General Controls Player 1, setup the spinner in places where it makes sense, like Paddles or steering wheels (by selecting the control you want to change, hitting Enter, and then spinning the spinner). That should make it work in any game that needs it. And no, accidentally hitting it won't mess up any game except maybe mouse-based games, and if it does mess something up, hit tab and go into that game's controls and make sure none of them are set to the spinner (you can clear settings by hitting Enter to select them and then Escape).

That did it thanks. I still don't know what the deal is for individual game settings but Arkanoid worked with the spinner just now...
