Title: [SOLVED] : Defender monitor problem/WG-4600 issue...
Post by: Darth Nuno on July 13, 2006, 08:20:44 am
Hi all,

Regarding my topic about my Defender cab here : http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade.htm (http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade.htm)

I have a problem with the monitor  :badmood:

I can adjust the horizontal screen position !  >:(

A good part of the picture is missing... the left part of the screen... and I can't adjust it !!!

I suppose I've to adjust it with this :

THere is three pins to use, but when I plug the red wire on each of them, I see no difference...

That red wire goes to 2 pins, than to this coil :

Do you thing that coil is broken ? How can I check it  ?

Thanks for your help  :notworthy:

Ah, a K4600 with what appears to be original caps.

Likely it needs them.

I don't think the 4600 has a H Pos adjustment.

Yes you have a Wells-Gardner k4600 series and it sure looks like it still has the original capacitors. It needs a capkit for sure!

What you are experiencing is the coarse horizontal frequency control is now out of adjustment. This is what roughly controls the centering horizontally of the picture and if way off will cause a slanted picture. See Bob Roberts' site:

http://homearcade.org/BBBB/slanted.html

The red wire that moves to the different posts the adjust Horiz Centering normally only moves the picture a 1/4" max. If it doesn't move at all then you have dried out capacitors on the monitor.

OK thanks for your fast reply  :)

I'll order a capkit first !

Hey Darth,
This is a fun one to cap. (If one can consider cap kits fun). Just make sure you take several pix of where everything came from. There are a lot of parts you have to remove to get to other parts. The 4600 was my first capping experience.

To do the job properly and easily, you must take the 4600 monitor out of the machine.
