Title: LCD monitor in cocktail cabinet
Post by: Craig on July 08, 2006, 10:33:11 pm
Just wondering if a LCD flat screen monitor would be suitable for a cocktail cabinet? Would it be easy to see? Anyone done it here?

i havent done it but i dont think it would be very good for a coctail. upright you can get away with because its directly in front of you. so you dont notice the narrow fov. On a coctail cab the angle is screwy. you look down on it but not straight down its more of down and at an angle. so you can see the difference.

i played around with this myself for a bit by droping my laptop screen down flat. i guess it depends how anal you are as far as brightness and color. for me i think it looked like absolute crap.

I thought I'd ask about it because I have gone through 4 15 inch monitors in the past few months in my house and I don't know if I can trust the CRT's anymore. I have thought about getting a second hand 19 inch monitor but how long would it last? I have one 15 inch monitor spare left in the house and after that, all the computers will need to be upgraded to LCD's. There is 3 computers here. Mine, Mum's and my brothers and these CRT's keep packing up!

Maybe I should think about getting an arcade monitor? The cost might be a bit much though. How easy it it to hook up to your VGA card? Do they support long view as if turning your PC monitor to the right to view it long ways?

Cheers.
