Title: Lazarus users - noob with some questions
Post by: CitznFish on March 10, 2003, 10:42:56 pm
I have tried setting up Lazarus. I have it working with the default skin but the text is so big for the game genre's that it gets cut off. i can't seem to find a way to make it smaller. I  can change the game list font size, but that's it. How do I do this? I didn't see it int he documentation

Also, I have tried some other skins (list, listall, a player) but it only wants to display my newest ROM's. I can't seem to change that, wierd.

Additionally, how do I get lazarus to hide games that I do not have ROM's for? i have tried dat files but I don't know where to tell lazarus where the dat files are. I fdropped them into teh dat file folder, but is there a default name?

finally, how do I get Lazarus to use catver.ini?

I am also using game launcher and that was pretty easy to set up using Game Launcher Mame Tool, but I really want to get Lazarus running...

TIA!

Question #1, you can't.... that's the way that particular skin is setup......

Question #2  This is a tale-tale sign that you haven't read the documentation and or you don't understand what it said.  Open your dirs.ini and alter the filters.  Inscructions on how to do this are in the documentation.  Also you switch to other lists via the next page and pervious page keys you have setup.

Question #3  Lazarus ONLY shows roms that you DO have.  With that being siad it doesn't verify them, so if you have a corrupted rom it will still show up.

#4 You place the catver.ini in the "catvers" folder and then go into lazarus and rengerate the master gamelist.  Any time you add a dat file, a catver, ect you must regenerate the master gamelist before the changes will show up.  Any time you change a filter to display said games you need to at least refresh the gamelist.  Again, these things are in the documentation.

Comment #1.... yes that's true but lazarus has more to it and thus it takes longer to setup.  The documentation is 30 pages long for a reason.  :)

Hey Howard .. your comment reminded me of a question I had.. what is the rom limit in Laz right now?  Will this go up for the DX version?

I'm not sure on the rom limit on this version, but if you have more roms than dx laz allows then you need a life. :)

i found out how to do this last night.  Its easy...just use the skinner app, and make the box very wide horizontally, but short vertically.  The text will be smaller, but it wont get cut off.
