Title: position of joystick and buttons for bartop?
Post by: Rudi on July 06, 2006, 10:53:22 am

On my cocktail which I just finished I centered the joystick for each player, and put several buttons on either side (mirror identical).   Now I'm building a bartop, and CP space is very limited.  Normally I find myself using my right hand for the joystick and my left for the buttons, but many other designs I've seen have the joystick on the left and the buttons on the right.

My question (finially) is which do people prefer, joystick on the left or the right?

I know there is no "right" answer, but I'm trying to get a feel of what most people like.

I believe joysticks are usually on the left.  Some old games placed the stick in the middle with buttons either side so you could take your pick.

As you say there is no 'right' answer, but I am sure the majority of machines have the stick on the left.

Since you are the one building it do whatever is comfortable to you however I think that 99% of people prefer the joystick on the left and buttons on the right...
