Just Ordered a TV that was SPOSE to have S-video, now that I have it , weill it doesnt have it.. It was CHeap but to ship it back... How much improvment is S-vid over Comp? I can notice the DIfference with my DVD player (But if the DIfference is as small as i get with the DVD player, I may keep the TV).
Worth a check (dont have Vid card yet), or should I just send it back and eat the shipping?

If you are 100% sure you specifically ordered the TV with S-Video, then it was the retailers fault and technically they should pay for the shipping for the replacement, but the chances of them actually doing it are pretty slim yes?
If its a good size TV at a cheap price and its going to be put into a cabinet, then you'd probably be better of holding on to it. There's a basic comparison at Oscars http://www.oscarcontrols.com/monitors.shtml (http://www.oscarcontrols.com/monitors.shtml) but I don't know how relevant it'll be to you, and unless you're really hard core about your graphics then you'll probably be happy with what you've got. (You ideally wouldn't be watching DVD's on your future cabinet, what with the screen tilted the way it is, but for the times you do - at parties per say - it should be suffice.)
Some other things you may want to check though:
a) Does the TV turn on automatically when the power on the wall is turned on?
Many new TV's go straight into standby mode, so you'll need the remote handy if your cabinet's being turned on and off alot.
b) When turned on, does the TV go straight into VIDEO mode?
I've found quite a few TV's that once turned on, the video channel will need to be selected manually.
Now these aren't major things and have nothing to do with S-Video (I really don't know why I posted them), but they're somewhat overlooked - remember your TV's going to end up behind glass. You dont want to loose the remote or get flat batteries because it's going to be be a pain in the ass switching on your cabinet otherwise!

Thanks for input, all things I need to look at (and hadnt really though of), got hte TV for $99 at Outpost (please no horror storries on returns to them, I have heard enough).

$19 shipping, got the TV last Thursday, Opened it friday night and saw it had no S-video. left them an E-mail on Friday Night. Got generic responce on Sat. put off calling up till today, now the Webpage doesnt have S-video(1) in the Description, they have fixed it. Guess I do have a computer I can hook it to ( forgot I have S-vid out on my computer) to take a look. But in the long run Im geussing I will wish i had S-vid, just trying to decide if the hassle is worth it. Witht he points you brought up Im thinking I will just have a worthless TV sitting here if I keep it. I just dont want to deal with Outpost on a Return.. Anybody want a Brand Spanking New 20" TV (WITHOUT S-VID) for $110 shipped (US Shipping)?

Save yourself some future heartache. Ditch it while you still can and get an S-video capable set.
The difference is certainly appreciable, moreso than with a DVD. DVD is full-screen moving video with a lot going on, while CG is a lot of static objects and sharply defines edges, not to mention small text. Big difference.
If you are concerned now, wait until you start using it. You'll never allow yourself to be happy with it knowing it's not what you wanted :).
