Title: Question on wiring two inputs to encoder
Post by: psychopanda on July 03, 2006, 07:07:01 pm
Yet another wiring question. Is it possible to wire two microswitches to one input on a keyboard encoder? Are there any issues in doing so?

I noticed that I have two joysticks on my control panel that are only intended for Player 1 (a 4-way and a P360). It would be helpful to wire the microswitches on the joys and buttons each to the same key inputs. For example, wire "up" on the 4-way joy and "up" on the 8-way joy both to the "up arrow" input on the KeyWiz.

(8-way "up")----------(4-way "up")-----------(KeyWiz "up" input)

Yes, that is perfectly OK to do so.  Make sure you do them in parallel not series though or else you'll have to hold up on both joys to register up on the encoder.
