For part1, seems like if you upgrade it to play music videos then you could mount a mirror on the door part which you open to see the monitor.   When the monitor plays the video, then you can see it in the mirror from a cross the room.  Pretty cool, although you might need to display the video backwards oni the monitor so it looks normal on the mirror..

Nice little bartop.  Is the bottom of the case a sealed enclosure for the speakers?  I like the look of the wood.

Yes, the bottom started out as a sealed enclosure, but I have since then drilled ports in the back for better bass response. It is still seperated from the rest of the components.
