Is a spinner from Omega Race adaptable to a mouse hack?
-
no...........its pot based
-
KLOV says it's optical.

And I know, I used to spin the spinner to spray shots in all directions if I was getting cornered.
Looking at the photo on this auction, it certainly looks like an encoder of some sort and not a pot.

well on both my dedicated cabs its pot based......I can get a pic later today. I can also get a scan or two of the manual..
-
That would be odd because...
Page 64 of this manual says encoder: http://www.arcadedocs.com/vidmanuals/O/OmegaRace.pdf
Page 78 lists it as an "Angle Encoder"
The schematics on Pages 95 & 98 lists it as a "Steering Encoder"

I've always heard there was something about the Omega Race spinner, here's a blurb I found on the web:
"Midway found the 64-position encoder wheels they were using to be in short supply and substituted a 360 degree pot and an A/D converter board."
-
thats gotta be it.... I checked the cockpit cp panels that I have and it has the same pot as the uprigths that I have.

There are two versions of the Omega Race Spinner, one with a pot on the bottom, and one with an encoder wheel. If you go look at www.quarterarcade.com, in the "Control Panel" section, there are pics of several Omega Race panels, you can see the different types there.
