Title: No Red WG 25K7193
Post by: borg07of09 on June 26, 2006, 12:02:35 pm
Please bear with me as im not too familiar with electronics.

On my color test screen from game:
Red: Black (there is no red)
Blue: Blue
Yellow: Yellow
White: White

I read somewhere here to swap the input wires (red and blue).
I connected the rgb connector backwards instead of its normal way so red is in blue's place and blue is in red's place.

On color test screen from game:
Red: Blue
Blue: Black
Yellow: Yellow
White: White

So im not sure what is the problem.  If anyone knows what the problem is, I really appreciate the help and advice.  Thanks.

It's possible that you might not be getting a red signal from the game board.

This monitor generally has a Zenith picture tube in it that is known for high failures (red is the first color to fail on this tube). If you have access to a picture tube restorer/analyzer (a.k.a. rejuvenator) then I'd connect it up and test the tube to confirm a bad red gun.

Simple way to check the game board signal..... that I use anyways.

Remove ALL color inputs to the monitor.  Red, Green, and Blue.
(leave the sync hooked up as it is)

Use just one input wire, in this case we'll use the red one since it's your question color, and connect it to ANY of the color inputs on the monitor.

If anything shows up using that red wire from the game board, then the signal is working from the game board.
Doesn't matter what "game screen" it on. Game mode, test mode, whatever.

If you get something only when you connect the red wire to either the green or blue input....and nothing on the red input...... then it's a problem with the tube or chassis.

You kinda have to ignore what color you see while doing this, all you want to note is if the red signal from the game board is working.
