Title: DOS MAME Bartop, What's next???
Post by: Rudi on June 24, 2006, 05:51:16 pm

I'm in the process of finishing my DOS MAME bartop.  I've got about 35 ROMS (classic, vertical) in place.  Are there any other emulators that would compliment this?  I've got the following:

CPU: 400 Mhz
RAM: 512 Megs
Disk: 6 Gig (4 free)
Video: 15" computer monitor
FE: ArcadeOS

I checked out Pinball, but Windows is needed, and this is pure DOS.  Is there anything else that would make this better?

In my opinion...

Mame is it. Especially if you went vertical. To me, arcade games are meant to be played at the machine, while console games are meant to be played from the couch.

I looked at NESticle.  Looks good, but I have to see if it will go vertical.  If not, then not.

Thanks though.

Take a look at Vantage.  With an old CPU and vertical monitor you might get better performance on alot of vert games.
