Hi Guys
1st post here
After trying to get my mame cabinet working for months I decieded to buy an arcadevga card, all works week except certain resolution games the picture rolls
eg. Bubble Bobble runs perfect
Outrun rolls
Im thinking this is a setting in advmame.rc but I'm not sure what to change
any help would be great
Thanks
Cathal

Im quite new to this as Ive just got my avga card and jpac but thanks o this forum im doing well.
Im using mamewah and there is a resolution tool that automatically generates a mame.ini file that has all the resolutions already set to the best output.
It works fine for me. Not sure if its available for arcadeos though.

Thanks Mark
Is mamewah dos based?
When I'm Using Advancemame command line in dos
I've fixed the rolling picture by adjusting the v-hold on the monitor and all horizontal games are working, I still get a roll once while loading a game thats a different resolution to the previous one loaded, but thats ok with me.
We'll sort that at a later stage.<Im sure thats just fine tuning>
Problem is now that ArcadeOS looks fine its self but when I load a game the picture looks like it is below
What have I got set wrong :banghead: ???
The picture is small in the center of the screen and the top of the screen is shown twice???

Turn off picture in picture?!?! ;D Sorry, I really have nothing useful to help you out...
-
:laugh2: :laugh2:
Also if anyone knows how to hide the disclaimer screens in arcadeos with advancemame
that would be great as there really annoying cause after they go, they got black and you've gotta hit p1 again to get to the game

Have you put ultimarc.dat in your Arcadeos dir..
http://www.mameworld.net/pc2jamma/downarc.html
Taken from Ultimarc...
ArcadeOS.
This is a good choice for a DOS front-end but does not automatically read the available VESA resolution list from a VGA card. The list of available resolutions is held in the MAME.DAT file.
Thanks to Tony Saxton, (http://mame.how.to/) there is a special MAME.DAT file here for using this card with ArcadeOS. Download the file ULTIMARC.DAT and copy over the existing file in your ArcadeOS folder. Then all of the ArcadeVGA resolutions will be available for choice in the game configuration menu (press "start2").

will try that out tomorrow, see where it says it needs to be build 2.5, would you say thats and higher? as I'm running 2.52
also I'm using advance mame not dmame so I wonder will that matter
thanks for the help and I'll let you's know how I get on
-
OK any help here would be brillant
I now have
Arcadeos V2.5 which is the only version that works with the ultimarc.dat
problem now is that arcadeos 2.5 wont find the romlist in the latest mame or the latest advance mame
any other Ideas?
If code needs to be changed in arcadeos for this to work if anyone could give the the required info and I'll ask my bro to change it for me
Thanks Guys

Hi Cynos.
Maybe I can help you in something!!!
I have one question for you, why you uses ArcadeOs. For better achieves with your configuration try to use ADVMENU with ADVMAME.
Advmenu at the moment is still in development, ArcadeOS no.
Here you can find a great tutorial to run both programs, Advmame and Advmenu...(sorry, is in Spanish but you can translate it with the inets translators....and there's plenty of photos too....;) )
http://www.forumcommunity.net/?t=1265408
In this tutorial, I explained every option and how to make the best performance with arcade monitors.
My config is very similar to yours:
PIV 2,4Ghz, Win98SE (without GUI), Ms-Dos, AVGA (Ati 7000 based...take care with it....AVGA 9X series seems not to work OK.), Advmame (0.99) and Advmenu..(the last version)
Cheers.

I cant get advancemenu to disply anything, it's like its choosing a resolution wayy to high for my monitor, its just scrambled

@Lord Hiryu
Right I nearly have advancemame working with advmenu
would you be able to email me your advmenu.rc and advmame.rc file so as I could compare them to mine by any chance?
my email address is cathal@cathal.net
thanks
Cathal
