Are you wanting to fix the current cab with the piece you have? They both look like they are in pretty rough shape, might be better off using a new piece and maybe getting some side art printed up to try and match up.
No matter how you try to do it, short of replacing the whole side, it will show a seam of some kind unless you replace all the side art.
I guess you could try to make a nice smooth straight cut on old side and a new piece and put them together either will some dowells or bisquits.
But it will be really hard to get a nice seamless fit, especially with particle board.

i was hoping to just fix the corner part. i was trying not to cut into the side art. i was just giving the extra piece.its my first mame cabinet so i was trying to do my best.

Hi,
I would make a metal 'splint' to go on the inside on the inside of the crack.
Drill several holes that would be on both sides of the crack and screw it on.
Use plenty of PVA glue all over the exposed wood crack as it dries clear.
So something like this:
Step 1: Apply glue to both sides and press together.
2: Screw on the metal plate to the inside.
3: Use clamps on both sides to hold for 48 hours. Remember to use blocks under the clamps.
4: Remove and touch up the crack with the right colour paint.
Its not going to be perfect but it will be back on.
If you have a big clamp, then clamp it from front to rear as well.
All the best.
Malcolm.

Make the cut at an angle so that...
1. The new piece has as much of the existing cabinet side underneath
2. Increasing the join length will make the join stronger
You wont need to cut into the art

I would make identical cuts on the cab and the broken piece so they fit together correctly. Then look into getting a doweling jig (cheap) or biscuit cutter (new tool) to connect the pieces. It will leave a hairline though the white part of the art where they meet.
-
Yeah, you can fix that without having to cut into the art. May require repainting the white parts of the cab (otherwise it won't "blend" correctly) but it's possible.
-
I would add that after you make the cut (into the white portion only), use a metal splint in the back, and use bondo to fill the seam. Sand smooth and repaint the white section.

thanks for the help guys.

I got a question - how does 1 end up with an extra peice of a control panel?

Wow. I sold a Space Duel cab with pretty much the exact same damage a few months ago. If you were in CA, you could convince me it was the same cab. Had a Neo Geo 1-slot inside.

i bought the empty cabinet and the guy told me he had gotten form some else. not really sure.
