Hello all,
As I start to get busy with my Arcade-In-A-Box business, I'm afraid the www.iRetroGames.com website has been taking a backseat. I don't want the site to die, as I truly believe in it's concept of providing a one stop area to find great new games and remakes that work well on home arcade setup. As I try to get about 8 more games added to the site (this latest batch is all free games), I'm beginning to realize I just don't have the time to update the site as much as I would like too.
I'm looking for help to help maintain and update the site. The idea behind the site is not to make money, or not a large amount. Just enough to continue advertising and pay for the bandwidth. It was never my goal to make it into a money making machine. My goal was and still is to provide one outlet where great new software can be found for all of us to benefit. I am happy to continue to fund the site for the next year or so through my business if it provides a useful service for you home aracde users.
Anyway, sorry for the rambling. If you think you might want to help with the site please shoot me a PM. It would great to get help in:
Finding Games that would fit in well with the site.
Doing webadmin stuff like adding games.
Taking screenshots of games and formatting them for the site
Playing game demos and rating them using the Cabinet Friendly Rating system we have put into place.
Thanks,
Ed
P.S. Thanks for the Sticky, whoever the person in the shadows is who did it :).

Just added 4 free games to the site, all by aba games and work out of the box with mame controls.
That makes 5 free games on the site now.

Ed: I'm too strapped in the time department to help you out, but I wanted to let you know I really like your site, and hope it continues. Don't give up!
-
Thanks Kremmit, I was beginning to wonder if anyone cared :).
I appreciate the kind words. I'll just update it when I can.
-
Just letting everyone know, I might change directions on this the site a bit, more it more of an informational site rather than an "Online Store" type of setup.
Thoughts on that?
-
I care! I care! I wouldn't know how to maintain a site, I haven't even maintained mine and not even sure if it works. If you can't get the support you need for the shop style, then maybe the info style will be easier for you. All depends on what your aim/goal really is for it and if you've got the time to achieve it - then find the balance.
Good luck

Thanks CDBrown :).
The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards more of an informational site. No store involved. More of a PHPNuke type of setup.
If we could get a good 3-5 people to contribute reviews and game information, that would be awesome. We can also provide the downloadable files if it's ok with the authors. And maybe just provide a link to purchase the game. We could still use all the affiliate programs I have setup with various websites to help bring in a little bit of cash flow to keep marketing the site and keeping it paid for.
So, in other words. Still looking for help :). I would love to keep the name, www.iRetrogames.com as well. Though ArcadeGames4Home.com is available :) That just sounds cheesy. Adding the i to Retrogames just makes it sound so today, and hip LOL.
Anyway, contact me if you think you might want to help.

I'd help, but once as a kid I had a pet hampster and I forgot to feed it for a week.......

Well the new site is taking form right now, and with a little luck it will be done by the end of the weekend.
What I really need right now is a few reviews. If anyone can help with doing a review or two, please let me know.
I have about 6 free games we can start with.
We want the reviews to consist of the Normal review stuff (Gameplay, graphics, sound etc.) But we want to make sure there is an added section about the ease of use on a home arcade type setup.
Current Free games are.
Beats of Rage
http://www.senileteam.com/games.php
Most anything from Aba Games.
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~cs8k-cyu/index_e.html
KeePeeUppy
http://www.boiledsweets.com/KeePeeUppy/
Those are just the free games that have been mentioned to me. I have not had a lot of time to search for anything recently.
Thanks.

Well I've been working on the new site a bit over the last few days.
You can take a look here, but it's far from finished. Basically I've just been getting a lot of the custom PHP stuff in place and altering the Joomla template to work for the needs of the site.
www.aiabgames.com/joomla (temp domain).
Anyway, what I am looking for some help with now is a slogan for iRetroGames. The old site used "Independent gaming..for the home arcade enthusiast" Is that good? Any other suggestions?
Oh, and still need help with everything mentioned in above posts :).
-
Well the new site is up. Still working on some cosmetic changes, and getting the user menu to work.
www.iretrogames.com
But it's coming along. Registered users, that have access, will get a seperate menu option that will allow you to post reviews and maybe new games.

In you ready for arcade controls listing, could you also specify if it is safe also for arcade monitor resolutions?
-
MYX,
That is something I want to be sure and list. Thanks.

Well for a "little" motivation I'm going to start paying for reviews. Not a lot, probably $5 a review if we decide to use it on the site. I know it's not a lot, but at least it's something :).
If you think you might be interested just shoot me a PM.
