I have a 2-1/4" Wico that I am currently restoring. The trackball was in relatively good shape. I washed it several times, soaked in soapy water ovrenight, soaked in bleach water overnight, and washed again. The ball is very white now, but there are still rust stains that didn't even budge from sitting on the rusty parts inside. Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of these, or is it as good as it gets?

How about trying a product like CLR (stands for Calcium Lime Rust.) Don't know if this is a product only limited to the Northeast US, but it is supposed to be great for removing rust stains from most surfaces. You should be able to find similar cleaning products in your local grocery store or Wal Mart. just look for a product that is for cleaning rust stains from showers, sinks, toilets, etc. . . I'm assuming that the ball is made of some sort of high density polypropylene (sp?) so it should withstand the highly caustic properties of this cleaner. Your hands won't though, so wear rubber gloves when using.

Yes, the CLR is a good idea. I believe I have an off-brand version of it under the kitchen counter. I will test it tonight. You would think that bleach would have hit it a little though, so I don't know if it will help.

Mr. Clean branded one is called Magic Eraser, but there are a few different ones out there. They are sponges that get off just about everything (my experience with em anyway, though I haven't actually tried rust), and they disolve as you use em.

Have you tried a microfiber cloth such as a "StarFiber" cloth?

Novus # 2 plastic polish, a clean terry cloth towel, and lots of elbow grease will make it like new again.
