There are several that do this, like the link states.  I think most people around here like mamewah.  I personally tried out gameex and love it, really easy to setup, and has alot of nice features.  THats just my personal opinion.

What I'd like to see is a frontend that will put a list of games together from several different emu's. That way you could just pick the game and it starts, no matter how it's emulated.

That would indeed be awesome. Problem would be how the system recognizes which zip file goes where unless these zip files would already be in the correct.....environment? Unless all ROMS are unpacked on your drive and each Rom has a specific emu extension, I think this would be hard. But not impossible.

You can already do that with AtomicFE . But i have to admit for now it is a little bit tricky and requires configuration effort. But it works.

Soon, it will be lot of easier, because Configuration tools of Atomic will be rewriten (as i did for the layout editor) , to make all this kind of things easy.  ;)

You can also do this with Mamewah too but if your ini challenged then it's not for you.

What kind of PC it is?   (MHz ? memory? video card?)

What resolution are you using?

Vertical or Horizontal mode?

What OS?

What layout?

I'm just thinking about something...

Do you have a full romset on your PC?  May be Atomic is simply sorting Roms name.  By default Atomic don't use gamelist , it just browse the folder and sort dynamically rom. (the routine is not very optimized).

IF you create a prededined game list, it solve this performance probleme.

Hey,

Its 600mhz, 512mb ram and a 32mb graphics card.  I didnt have any roms in the folder Atomic folder, i didnt get around to that.
Do i need the english version of the Windows scripting host?  :-[

so,

-check in windows Display properties if your windonws is in a 16bit/pixel mode.  (65535 colors)  (not in a 24 or 32 bit/pixel (millons colors).

If not, put it in 16bit/pixel. and try again.

then try to download and use the Jeston3_640x480 layout.

Check with AtomicManager that  the resolution is set to 640x480  Horizontal.

Try again.

If it doesn't work , try the same thing but set the resolution to 320x200 . and Try again.

Let me know if one of this step works.

I don't think the problem comes from the windows scriptiing host , so no problem on that side.

thanks

Are you using pnp modules?

Or did you make your own multi-config?

Could you describe me your configuration a little bit more?

For game list , read this thread :

http://spaceinvaders.7.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=171&highlight=multi+layout

But it seems , i have agin a bug in AtomicManager, so you should use the previous version here :

Im just using the pnp modules, i have no idea about these things so i didnt touch the settings :P  I tried running just the emulators and they crashed to.  Especially project 64.

I don' t thing project64 could run on your 600Mhz PC with only 32mega of video ram.

If you use pnp module,  try to change resolution and things you did last time , using pnpmanager.exe , instead of Atomicmanager.

AtomicManager is for your own made config

PnpManager allows settings on the full plug'n play set.

Have you tried Arcade.exe It searches your harddrive for all emulators. It then lists all your games in Alphabetical order. http://81.144.173.19/arcade/index.htm

This frontend is not in the wiki. I'll add it.

Your welcome.  :) I dont think it's being developed anymore but the source code is available in the link. It has some pretty cool themes. I really like the donkey kong one.

Sorry, I've been sick, didn't see this one.

Both dk and 3darcade have had this ability for some time.

Actually, that might be a new category to add to the database in the wikki... native filtering.

Correct...this sortof happened by accident when I added the ability to use game-specific ini files.  I know many FE's already had this feature, and are better equipped to use it really, but for small tasks it works OK in Mamewah (eg having Zinc launched from your Mame list).
