Title: 3D + video problem on a freinds computer (maybe not present)
Post by: Otraotaku on June 13, 2006, 06:33:30 pm
ok, well i went to a freinds house to somehow fix his crashed up computer, (which i did very easily) i wanted to give him some games on his computer,I gave him tons of games one being halo...

i started it up and it looked off centered and rendered horribly.  i then made sure i had installed Direct X, and Direct 3D on his computer. but even after all that it still couldnt run the models and textures, was there something i missed? i asked him if he ever played anything in 3D he said his little brother plays a game. I looked in device manager to see what kind of device is runing to Video and couldnt find much... and i could not open it because it was his older brothers, (errr... complicated)

any way just wondering if theres something i missed, because i didnt have too much time with it, maybe the motherboard/card (i couldnt find) didnt have the needed drivers or what not, but this is what i do know...

its a HP with 512Mb of Ram, a Pentium 4 (i forget the speed), which i know thats  nothing on halo... i ran an emulation of metal gear on a PSX emulator very well, thats why i thought it was pretty ackward. maybe halo actually requires video Ram....

are the settings in halo up high.  tinker with them otherwise the vid might be integrated.

its probably onboard video, or at least some other really crappy video card.  If it is a decent card, then try updating its drivers.
