Hey guys...just wanted to know If I should bother upgrading...Ive been offered a cheap pc....Ive got mame running in cab on a P3 600 with 65mb ram....and can go to a Pentuim III , 1GHZ
512 MB RAM (PC133)
worth the upgrade or wont make much of a difference???Thanks any comments would be good....Im mostly playing older games...
-
how much is cheap?
is there things you can't run now that you think the new machine will?
-
cost about $40-$60 australian....so dirt cheap really...maybe like to play metal slug...not sure if the upgrade would help much...or keep the money for a better rig??
-
Assuming $40-60 isn't a lot of money to you, you should definately do the upgrade. It'll have 67% more processing power and enough ram to be able to run windows xp smoothly. Also, a 1 ghz computer should have no problem running any of the metal slug games.
-
Cheers thanks for that...will probably do it then....cheers

Yeah, the RAM boost is worth the price even if the CPU was the same. I'd say go for it. 65 megs to 512 megs is a huge improvement.
-
If nothing else it could be the start of another project...
-
OH MY GOD please no...not another machine...lol...mmmm not a bad idea...save the p3 600 for a cocktail vertical
-
For the price....defineately go for it.
Like said before, the RAM change alone will make a huge difference.
Should do just what you want it to.
I run all the Metal Slugs just fine on a AMD Duron 650.
But I also have more RAM.....
(and keep all the background stuff to a bare minimum)
