Finally letting go. Thought I'd post here before I went the ebay route. The whole thing fits in 5 big boxes, and weighs in total about 150 pounds, so shipping is gonna be a killer. Looking for someone in the Bay Area that might be interested or know someone who is.
I've got about three hundred disks full of software, (roughly 1000 programs), about 15 cartridges (mostly non-game stuff), about 30-50 Antic and Compute! magazines, many with the original disks, an Atari Touch Tablet (boxed) Edumate Light Pen, MPP-1150 printer interface, 850 interface, two more Atari 800's (1 with no case anymore (?), the other with an original custom wired RAMdisk built by Scott Peterson (who I knew) while he was stationed at Fort Ord, CA.) (Search the 'net for this one!) 3 810 disk drives (one I wrote on with a permanent marker warning me not to turn it on becuase it was partially disassembled), 1 810 Happy disk drive, about 15 books on programming the Atari, the original manuals for almost all of the hardware. I've also got a 3 inch binder full of photocopied documentation for several games, and other interesting stuff like Atari software protection techniques. Paddles, Joysticks, and a few Apple II programming manuals. Also a collection of various 5.25 floppy sleeves, each different, about 50 or so I guess. Also about 8 new in box 16K memory modules, a nice cloth cover for the Atari computer, several I/O cables, power supplies, etc.
Just throwin' it out there.

Sigh.....that must be too have to carry home on a plane right ?....what a dream collection.... Hope it gets a good home !
-
Good luck finding a home - it sounds a lot like my collection before I got rid of it. I was an Atari fanatic as well. Ahhh, the good old days...
-
Got M.U.L.E.?
-
I've only got *ahem* personal copies, no originals. Wish I had the cartridge, it was by far my passion.
-
We used to play the snot out of my friend's copy on his C-64. Took forever to load....
I converted the title screen sid tune to mp3 so I could use it as a ringtone. A couple years back I even made my little avatar there from a crapload of screenshots of M.U.L.E. running on CCS64.
Good luck with your sale!

Take it to California Extreme next month, bet it would sell there.

Oh the memories.....
Sounds like a great collection....
Anyone play Alternate Reality at all ? I wasted a ton of time on that one.
Also, I think my favorite game I ran accross on the 800 was called snowball fight. One person on each side, the view was from the side.... you could move left or right, the up and down was how you made a snowball... the more you went up and down the bigger the snowball.... it had some insane physics, you could throw a snowball into the wind and have it blow right back overhead sometimes.... it usually ended in a text message around gauging someone's eye out.

I also played it, and ANYTHING Gary Gilbertson had anything to do with. Loved Tail Of Beta Lyrae.
Have quite a few of his little music demos too.
Check this page out for Alternate Reality info.

I have about the same amount of software as Dervacumen, but only one Atari computer and drive... A 130XE and Indus GT disk drive. I bought them new, and even though they're not worth much, I won't part with them. I also still have my original C64 and 1541.

i also have a ton of atari 8bit stuff at least 3 800xl computers, 3 disk drives, one or two cassette drives, some interfaces, and bunch of cables a printer and a ton of books and disks and cartridges. fits in 3 bankers boxes.
i however, would be willing to part with mine for the right offer locally (im in chicago)
i also have a bunch of disks of >ahem< "personal" software, that i made a little compilation for the "midwest classic gaming expo" as give aways for anyone with an atari 8bit computer. with a bunch of good ol games on one disk with a cool intro menu and whatnot, but i didnt give one away, not one person came to that show that owned an atari 8bit computer. so if anyone is intersted in that and has an 8bit computer drop me an email i will send you one if you cover exact postage..... i will try to post a list of whats on there in the next couple of days...
drop me an email if you are interested in either my collection of atari stuff and are local to chicago or if you would like to get one of those compilation disks from me at natty-at-cosmicbreaks.com
oh yeah, and M.U.L.E is my favorite game as well i remember staying up till all hours of the night playing with my cousins, 4 player stylee. one of my other favs was spy hunter, it had this cool thing that 2 joysticks wold velcro into to make a makeshift steering wheel with 2 buttons. i wish i still had my first atari printer too, it was tiny plotter and used a pen to draw, you could switch the pens to different colors o make pretty pictures, but it was usless for anything word processey cause it used calculator rolls for paper 8) i loved my atari taught me everything i knew about computers and basic programing and started me on the route to the wonderful world of computing that i am employed in today.

I would love to have that ring tone (hint?). As for the avatar, you'll have to refrain from posting anywhere near mine, otherwise you'll keep feeding my inferiority complex. I've been admiring it for a while.

That WAS the plan until I found out I'm going to be in North Carolina that weekend. :hissy:

North Carolina or Parkside Hall filled with heaven.......The choice seems pretty obvious :)

Kinda crazy question, but how close are you to Kortgene? I might be able to get it shipped there super cheap.
-
You kidding ?? It's "around the corner" for me, a mere 80 km's from my home !!! I live near Rotterdam.
Tell me more !!!
-
Bump !
-
Sorry about the delay.
I've got a sales agent who lives in Kotrgene, and I ship her supplies all the time. She might be willing to let me ship some of this stuff to her so you could pick it up.
Let me check with her.
I'll send you a PM once I find out, and then we can see what you're interested in, if anything.
Small world, huh?
