Title: Golden Tee Technique
Post by: toasty on June 12, 2006, 11:42:43 am
I always see people slamming their hand forward against the trackball when playing Golden Tee, sometimes taking a running start.  Does that extra velocity really make a difference?  I feel like I can get pretty good drives just spinning it sharply with my thumbs.  Is the running and slamming thing just machismo, or does it really make a difference?

I always gave a good shove on the trackball with the palm of my hand, but I think running and slamming is just unnecessary wear and tear on the trackball...not to mention that it is harder to control the direction you are swinging in when your are diving into a cabinet.

I currently do not have a trackball setup, so I can't say for sure though.

I think the thumb method is catching on... running and hitting the trackball, thats funny stuff.

Basic physics says that YES, it does make a difference.  First you have your hand velocity spinning the trackball.  Then you have the added speed of your body.

Unfortunately, the difference is so minute, you'll never realize it.  Plus the other reasons stated above about control and such.

I use my finger tips for most shot but for driving I use my full hand.  Using my finger tips give me more persition on were I want to put the ball.
