Title: Setting up Mala in my cab - What are the best console/arcade emulators to date?
Post by: eastbayarb on June 11, 2006, 11:52:51 pm
This question has probably been asked many times but probably not recently, but I am setting up Mala so I can run multiple emus with a frontend in my cab (I am gonna hopefully set it up so I don't need the keyboard and mouse, but I will have both of those connected).
I wanna know  what the best emus are for:

SNES
NES
TG-16/Duo/PC Engine
Sega Genesis/SegaCD/32X
Sega Master System/Gamegear
Neo Geo/CPS1/CPS2
Colecovision
Atari 2600/5200/7800
AtariST
Amiga
Gameboy/Gameboy Color
Gameboy Advance
Nintendo64
PSX (playstation 1)
CD-i
3DO
Spectrum
Vectrex
Fruit Machine
Pinball

Any help is appreciated.

Oh and here are the particulars of my PC:

Pentium 4 1.7ghz CPU
512mb RAM
120gb SATA drive
DVD-ROM drive
GeForce 5600 AGP video card with 256mb RAM

UNCLET is the man you should be asking as he has just set up HEAPS in Mala. After he did so he was able to pass on info to MaLa's author so he was able to set up Presets for many emu's...

http://mala.arcadezentrum.com/emupresets.html (http://mala.arcadezentrum.com/emupresets.html)

Also I though this query was more suited to the software section rather than the Main forum...  ;D

I do not know what the "best" emulators other's would consider to be,
but here are the emulators (and versions) I used:

SNES = zsNes
NES = fceUltra (hacked version exists at CPViewer)
TG-16/Duo/PC Engine = I do not emulate these Japanese games
Sega Genesis/SegaCD/32X = fusion (v3.51)
Sega Master System/Gamegear = fusion (v3.51)
Neo Geo/CPS1/CPS2 = I do not emulate these since they are in Mame already
Colecovision = nostalgia(v3.6a)
Atari 2600 = z26 (hacked version exists at CPViewer)
Atari 5200 = "jum52_10_win32" as well as "M.E.S.S.(v104b)" (some games work in jum52)
Atari 7800 = "M.E.S.S.(v104b)"
AtariST = I do not emulate these
Amiga = WinUAE (v1110) (use the UAEConfigCreator app from headkaze for TOSEC Roms)
Gameboy/Gameboy Color = VisualBoyAdvance (v1.8.0-beta3)
Gameboy Advance = VisualBoyAdvance (v1.8.0-beta3)
Nintendo64 = Project64 (v1.6) (hacked version exists at CPViewer)
PSX (playstation 1) = I do not emulate this but I believe tons of people use "epsxe"
CD-i = I do not emulate these games
3DO = FreeDo (V1.7 WIP) (** You must use 3DO Wrapper from CPViewer site to launch games)
Spectrum = I do not emulate these games
Vectrex = "M.E.S.S.(v104b)"
Fruit Machine = I do not emulate these games
Future Pinball = Future Pinball
Visual Pinball = Visual Pinball
